Called to the Escondido United Reformed Church

Big changes coming for us as I accepted a call today to be the preaching pastor in the Escondido United Reformed Church.  This is probably the most difficult decision I have ever had to make.  My wife and I are leaving behind a wonderful church family in Lynden, but we are also greatly excited to minister to the saints in Escondido.  Please pray for us during this time of transition.  Most of all, pray that the Lord would send a mighty preacher of the gospel to the Lynden URC.  We have had eight amazing years ministering in Lynden.  We love the saints here dearly but couldn't escape the Lord's call to come and preach the gospel in the Escondido URC.  We look forward to ministering to this new church family.

  1. Wow! That is a HUGE change! Have you set a tentative start date yet? We will be in prayer for all of you...I hope we can make it up there at least once before you take of for southern climes...

Our eyes are full of tears, but our hearts are with you and rejoice that you can share your love of the Word and your zeal for the gospel with the Escondido URC. We will be listening to your sermons, even though you won't be with us in person. You will be with us in spirit. God bless you in this transition and always!

You and Darcy have been in my prayers for the last few weeks and I know the difficulty that you had in making this decision. May the Lord give you his grace and peace and may his face shine upon your family and your church family in Lynden.

  7. I will definitely keep the Lynden church in prayer as they begin this transition, and start looking for a new minister.

    I didn't want to pressure you at synod, but I was hoping you'd decide to come join us down here in SWUS!

    The churches in the Northwest will miss you, and that includes the Canadian Reformed Churches. Thanks for your participation in the regional pulpit exchanges, as well as your teaching at the Reformed Bible College.
    May the Lord soon supply Lynden with a new pastor and teacher.

  9. Sir! I respect you a whole lot, I know you took your time useing wisdom and prayer to reach this decission. And in due time God showed you the answer! And obviously is the right one~! Although like you've been seeing, you've made a huge impact in Lynden,and to see God bringing you to another community to use your talents of preaching,teaching,and the radio is going to be a huge blessing.God works in mysterious ways :-) Praise God, He will turn ALL of this to His good.May God continue to Bless you and your family from here on out and keep you safe.

    Safe travels for you and your family to Southern California. I heard you will be leaving tomorrow on your journey. Escondido URC is fortunate to have a great pastor to help fill a void they have been seeking for some time now. I know you have been a huge blessing to my family, having married both Mark and Natalie over the years and preaching to them, their spouses and my parents. Escondido is a place with much opportunity, and many souls that also need to be touched with honest, biblical teaching. Enjoy the sunshine and a new church family!
